How to Remove Stickers from Your Car

If you’re like a lot of our Dover customers, you come to a point when you’re wondering how to get stickers off your car. Maybe you bought a used car and the previous owner felt it was really important for everyone to know where they’ve gone on vacation. Or maybe you no longer feel the need to advertise whom you voted for in a past election. Whatever the case, it’s time for those stickers to come off. So, let’s talk about, not only how to remove stickers from your car in a safe manner, but also how to remove sticker residue from your car. Then you can find more cleaning tips, including how to clean your windshield.

How to Get Stickers Off the Car Body

Several of our Portsmouth customers have asked us how to remove stickers from a car without damaging the paint. There is a safe way to do this. Just follow these steps:

  • Carefully clean all dirt and debris from the sticker and surrounding area.
  • Blow hot air on the sticker starting from middle and working outward to the edges.
  • Pry a corner of the sticker up with a credit card and scrape the sticker off. Do not use a razor blade to do this!
  • How to remove sticker residue from the car: Spray some adhesive remover like Goo Gone or rubbing alcohol (or even sap remover) on a rag and scrub off the residue.

How to Remove Stickers from your Car Windows

If the previous owners of your car left stickers detailing how many children, cats, and dogs are in their household, you may be eager to remove them. Follow these instructions on how to remove stickers safely from your car windows and windshield, just as many of our Rochester customers have done:

  • Apply rubbing alcohol, window cleaner, or Goo Gone to the sticker and the surrounding glass.
  • Let whichever substance you used, let it sit on the sticker for a few minutes.
  • Scrape the sticker off with a razor blade or X-Acto knife.
  • When struggling with how to remove sticker residue from the car window or windshield, any remaining residue can be removed by applying WD-40 or Goo Gone and scraping it off.
